  • Online status and custom offline indicators may be visible to other users

4.2 OpenAI Data Sharing:

When you use AI-powered features, your interactions are processed through OpenAI's API. This includes:

- AI chat queries

- Web search requests (in Smart mode)

- Text content for dictionary lookups, composition, or notes

- Data necessary to provide AI-powered features

Translation text and target language specifications

- Fact-checking queries and web search requirements

- Anonymous story content (processed without user identity linkage in API calls)

 

According to OpenAI's policies:

- OpenAI may securely retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days to provide services and identify abuse

- After 30 days, API inputs and outputs are removed from their systems, unless legally required to retain them

- Access to API data is limited to authorized OpenAI employees requiring access for engineering support, investigating platform abuse, or legal compliance

- Some specialized third-party contractors bound by confidentiality may access data solely to review for abuse and misuse

- The OpenAI API Platform has SOC 2 Type 2 compliance certification

 

4.3 Aggregated or De-identified Information:

We may also share aggregated or de-identified information, which cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

5. AI Technology and Limitations

5.1 Our App uses AI technology provided by OpenAI to power various features. While we strive to provide accurate and helpful information through these AI-powered features, you acknowledge and agree that:

a) The AI may sometimes produce inaccurate, incomplete, or irrelevant information, a phenomenon often referred to as "hallucination" in the AI industry.

b) Information provided by the AI should not be considered as professional advice or absolute truth.

c) You are responsible for critically evaluating and verifying any information or suggestions provided by the AI before acting upon them.

d) We strongly recommend that you double-check any important information provided by the AI using reliable sources.

 

5.2 AI Usage Compliance:

a) By using our AI features, you agree to comply with OpenAI's usage policies, which prohibit:

  • Using AI to harm yourself or others

  • Generating content that violates laws or regulations

  • Creating deceptive content that misrepresents people or events

  • Generating content that is sexually explicit, involves minors, or promotes violence

  • Attempting to circumvent safety measures or limitations

b) We implement filters and safety measures to prevent misuse, but users remain responsible for their interactions with AI features.

 

5.3 We are not liable for any consequences resulting from your reliance on information provided by the AI features of the App.

5.4 Anonymous Stories and Discovery Privacy Considerations:

a) Anonymous Story Privacy:

  • Your identity is hidden from other users viewing your anonymous stories

  • We display anonymous stories with "@anon" usernames and random avatars

  • Critical Disclosure: We retain the connection between anonymous stories and your actual account for:

    • Content moderation and policy enforcement

    • Abuse prevention and safety measures

    • Legal compliance and law enforcement requests

    • Technical support and service provision

b) Discovery and Trending:

  • DiscoverScreen algorithms analyze your story interactions to improve recommendations

  • Trending designations are based on algorithmic analysis of engagement patterns

  • We may use anonymous story interaction data for platform improvement

c) Translation and Fact-Checking:

  • Content submitted for translation/fact-checking is processed through OpenAI's API

  • Usage limits (10 daily each) are tracked locally on your device

  • We do not store translation results permanently but may cache temporarily

 

6. Data Storage and Security

6.1 Local and Server Storage:

a) Message Content:

  • Messages and related content are stored on our servers for up to 60 days

  • We plan to implement regular server cleanup every 60 days

  • Messages may also be stored locally on your device

b) Story Content:

  • Stories are stored on our servers for 24 hours, after which they are automatically deleted

  • Stories may also be cached locally on your device temporarily

c) AI Interactions:

  • AI interactions may be processed by OpenAI's services

  • AI chat history may be stored locally on your device

  • Compose with AI and Notes content is stored locally on your device

d) Theme and Reward Data:

  • Theme preferences are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage

  • Coin balances and transaction history are stored locally on your device

  • This data persists between app sessions but is not synchronized to our servers

  • Transaction history is limited to the most recent 50 transactions

e) Discovery and Translation Data:

  • Anonymous story creator identity (stored securely, separate from public display)

  • Trending story status and engagement analytics

  • Translation/fact-checking usage counters (local device storage)

  • DiscoverScreen interaction history (temporary server storage)

6.2 Data Security:

a) We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit

  • Secure server infrastructure

  • Access controls and authentication

  • Regular security assessments

b) However, please note that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

a) When using Smart mode in Chat with AI (limited to 5 web searches per day), your queries may be processed by third-party search providers to retrieve information from the internet.

b) The search results may include content from various online sources. We do not control the privacy practices of these third-party websites.

c) Search queries are subject to our privacy practices and those of our search partners.

10.2 AI Model Limitations:

a) AI models may occasionally generate responses that appear to include personal information. This is typically a result of pattern recognition rather than actual access to private data.

b) We implement safeguards to prevent AI from accessing or revealing sensitive personal information.

c) If you believe the AI has generated a response containing actual personal information, please report it to us immediately.

10.3 OpenAI Data Usage:

a) When using our AI features, your queries and inputs are processed through OpenAI's API service.

b) According to OpenAI's policies:

- Data sent to OpenAI's API may be retained for up to 30 days for service provision and abuse monitoring

- We do not have control over how OpenAI processes your data beyond their stated policies

- OpenAI implements security measures aligned with SOC 2 Type 2 compliance standards

c) We do not have mechanisms for you to opt in or out of how OpenAI processes your data, as we are using their standard API services.

 

10.4 Theme and Coins Data:
a) The App collects and stores the following user preference data:
   • Theme preferences (light/dark mode and theme selection)
   • Lifetime coin balance
   • Transaction history (limited to last 50 transactions)
   • Streak information for bonus calculations
b) This data is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage and is not synchronized to our servers unless specifically needed for backup purposes.
c) You can reset your theme preferences and coin data at any time through the app settings.
d) Transaction history includes:
   • Feature usage transactions
   • Daily login rewards
   • Streak bonuses
   • Story posting rewards
   • Other in-app activities that earn or spend coins

10.5 Translation and Fact-Checking Privacy:

a) Service Limitations:

  • Both services have daily limits (10 uses each) that reset at midnight

  • Results are generated by AI and may contain inaccuracies

  • Users should verify important information through additional sources

  • Services may be temporarily unavailable due to technical limitations

b) Data Processing:

  • Translation and fact-checking requests are sent to OpenAI's API

  • Content is processed according to OpenAI's data retention policies (up to 30 days)

  • We do not retain copies of translation results or fact-check queries

  • Usage statistics are stored locally on your device only

 

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

a) We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
